This nine days Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek will take you to one of the wonder of your lifetime with amazing landscape around and clean lakes to view. You will be also in a place where you will have a view of entire Himalayann mountain ranges including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, and Gangche Ta.

In this tour other than visiting amazing view Dagala Lakes, it will also cover most of Thimphu and Paro valley. As most of this trail is from the near by villages, so it is a opportunity to interact with them

Note: This trek is advisable to book for  someone who really can climb uphill and for those who are fit to hike up you will be treated with amazing beauty landscape and fresh air. The best season for this trek is in between April-June and September-October.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Paro

Right after you arrive at Paro International Airport, Bhutan Getaways representative will receive you, we will move to capital city Thimphu. Thimphu is estimated at less than hour drive from Paro International Airport .

First stop for the day will be at National Folk Heritage Museum. You will be amazed to see Bhutanese arts and essential household items that Bhutanese used. There will be display of traditional arts , cultural relics, and artifacts.
Just few minute drive from any hotel in Thimphu is popular tourist site Buddha Point where you can see 169 foot tall bronze statue of Buddha Dordenma. Towards the evening, you can also check the night view of Tashi Chhoedzong either from BBS tower or from below Nunnery located Zilukha.

One peculiar distinctive culture of Bhutanese is national attires. So, weaving is one of the prominent traditions we can see in Bhutan not just in Thimphu but all over the country. So, The National Textile Museum is our next stop. Here, you will be amzed how weaving is done and how beautifully the dresses are designed.

Day 2 Thimphu-Gyenekha

Right after breakfast we will move to Gynekha which is almost 2 hours drive from capital city Thimphu. This is where our Trail route start. From here we will climb up to a ruin and from there we will descend to a Geynitsang Chhu.

During this time you will enjoy landscape and picturesque hills around. Once we reach to our campsite we will visit the villages Zamto and Chhochhekha up the valley.

Distance : 1.25 miles / 2 km
Duration: 5 hours

Day 3Gyne Zampa – Gur

From Gyeni Zampa will hike up towards oak forest and reach Gur. Gur is area of where Yak Pastures are located and it is just below the main trail.

Distance: 7 km
Time: 5 hours
Ascent: Ascent 550 m, descent 210 m
Camp Altitude: 3,290 m

Day 4Gur – Labatama

Today we will cross high ridges and beautiful landscape all around. It is time for our professional photographer take you a beautiful picture. It is well noted that the winds are so refreshing and most of beautiful wild flowers are seen during Spring season.
The first mountain pass to come across during this Trek is the beautiful view of Kanjenjunga, which is located in Sikkim, India. There are more peaks to come your way. As you go down, you will see entire Dagala mountain ranger including some of local with their Yak Herder Camp and sites. As you go down into the Labatama valley, we will then gradually climb through the valley meeting Yak herders along just before we reach Uthso Tsho.
Our camp site will just beside this Lake.

Day 5Labatama

Today we will have a time to relax at Labatama. We could take this time to visit nearby lakes. There are three lakes in the surrounding namely Reli Tsho, Hen Tsho and Jama Tsho.

For fishing lovers, this is great deal for you to fish the trout. Please kindly note that Fishing permit is required. So it is advisable for you to let us know about it.

Day 6Labatama – Panka

Today we will climb along the western side of Dala Tsho and it is almost 4520m above sea level. On this note, you will be able to see spectacular view of Himalayan peaks. Some of the mountain peaks you will be able to view from here areMt. Everest (Nepal), Mt. Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Mt. Jomolhari, Mt. Jichu Drake, Mt. Tshering Gang, Mt. Khangbum, Mt. Masang Gang, Mt. Tsende Gang and Mt. Gangche Ta.

If you think you have little more energy, we can climb another 200m to have better view of majestic Himalayan Mountains view. From here we will descend down to Doccha Chu. Then we may follow the way along the riverside and hike up again until we reach Panka.

Day 7 Panka-Talakha

Today as we cross some of the beautiful passes we will enjoy some of amazing landscapes along side. These passes are not hurdle as it does not require much of the climbing. During June and July, there will be different types of blue poppy and chirping birds all around.

We will also cross the last pass for this trekking trail is Ta-le La which is situated at 4180m and from here we move down to Talakha Gonpa. Tonight, our team might have pitch the tent along side the monastery and if time permits we will meet and interact with monks there.

Time: 5-6 hours
Ascent: 180 m,
descent: 110mCamp
Altitude: 3,080m

Day 8Talakha – Chamgang-Thimphu-Paro

From this monastery we will move to Chamgang and proceed to Thimphu. Towards the afternoon once we have Lunch we will move to Paro. If time permits we will visit the some of the places in Paro.

After reaching Paro we will visit Kyichu Lhakhang. Kyichu Lhakhang is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Just like Jambhay Lhakhang in Bumthang, it is one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to subdue and pin down an demon that was obstructing the spread of Buddhism. History says those 108 temples were all built in one night.

After this one we will cross towards Dumtse Lhakhang. Dumtse Lhakhang was built in 1433 by the iron bridge builder Thangton Gyalpo, the temple was built to subdue a demoness and so was chained firmly to the ground. It’s three floors represents hell, earth and heaven. Please note that visiting Dumtse Lhakhang you may need special permit.

Paro Dzong is also one among oldest Dzongs in Bhutan. It is home to only International Airport and Jomolhari a peak which is 7300m above sea level. After we are done with today’s short trip we will come to our hotel. Our Guide will come instruct you for next da

Day 9Departure

This is end of Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek. After breakfast we will checkout from hotel and head towards Paro International Airport. We at Bhutan Getaways wish you safe journey and wish to see you back in Bhutan again in future
