My journey began at the tender age of six when I embarked on my educational path at a boarding school in Kalimpong, India. Throughout my primary, secondary, and high school education, I studied alongside students from all over the world. This rich diversity fostered in me a deep appreciation for different cultures and a natural ability to adapt and connect with people from all walks of life.
My passion for travel blossomed as each new journey—whether across countries or into unknown cultures—instilled in me a sense of confidence, curiosity, and adventure. I became a global citizen in spirit, eager to explore the world, learn new languages, and savor the diverse cuisines and customs of the places I visited.
I pursued my university studies at the European University in Antwerp, Belgium, where I was quite unprepared for the local way of life. I was confronted with questions about my Bhutanese identity, such as, “What and who am I?” In Europe, Bhutan was virtually unknown, and my appearance often led to assumptions that I was Chinese or Japanese. Despite experiencing a period of disconnection and struggling to fit into a traditional European lifestyle, I came to realize the value of Bhutan and appreciate how special and peaceful it is—and what it could offer to the world. During this time, I began to value the simplicity, compassion, and profound human spirit inherent in Bhutanese culture.
